We always welcome new cadets and senior members. The beginning of a school year is typically when new cadets join, but members can join any time.
Senior members with a background in emergency services, air/ground search, wilderness experience, pilots and flight instructors, and persons with experience in education or clerical skills are especially valuable. If you don't already have those skills, don't worry: We will train you!
We have a need for adults who just want to help out. Squadron 401 has almost twenty senior members (adults), but only a half dozen participate regularly enough that they can be assigned positions. Inactive members typically did a lot in the past but are now older or busier and serve instead as historians or role models. For example, we have in our squadron a major league pitcher from 1948–1951 (Washington Senators). Meanwhile, the senior members who are regular participants wear multiple hats. Ideally, we should be able to spread the workload. Individually, the tasks quite manageable, so if you have any spare time, we could use your help! Parents sometimes join and are often very helpful in this way.
For the safety of our youth—our nation's future—all senior members must undergo a background check and take Cadet Protection Program Training.
